Senior Development Manager – Client-side investment, development and management business - London

We are working with a mid-sized, well-financed UK and European private investment, development and asset management business who are looking for a Development Manager / Senior Development Manager to join their London team. The Development Manager will oversee value-add developments across their existing long hold portfolio in addition to new acquisitions as part of their investment and growth plans.

£75,000 - £85,000 + Benefits + Bonus with a 4/1 flexi working set up

The Role:
The Senior Development Manager will have responsibility and autonomy to oversee and assess the value-add redevelopment opportunities across their existing portfolio c.£0.4 billion in addition to appraising and driving through the 360-development process on new acquisitions. They are relatively sector agnostic giving the successful Development Manager a wide asset exposure across Residential (PRS and affordable), Student, Hotel, Office, Warehouse and Mixed-use with average development build costs between £5 million and c.£30 million.

The Development Manager will report into the UK Head of Development and lead the 360 investment stratergy, option appraisals, risk and value add development plan managing the schemes through design, planning and consultant team oversight in delivery. They are looking for a proactive individual who has experience of leading multiple mid-level schemes through RIBA 0 – 6 and who has a good financial head to lead the development appraisals, cashflows and master plan design.

Due to the relatively small size of the Real Estate team, there is good opportunity for progression and the Head of Development is keen to mentor and help the individual grow and develop their career.


  • MRICS (preferable but not essential) with a degree in Planning & Development, Project Management, Property or Real Estate

  • Ideally 7+ years’ experience in 360 development, preferably focused towards Residential, Student and Hotel schemes

  • Experience across the development cycle from front end development appraisals (excel & ARGUS) through the technical project delivery, to back-end operational experience would be advantageous.

  • Exposure to commercial lease, development and funding agreements would be advantageous.

  • Commercially astute with good communication and a solution focused mindset.

  • An entrepreneurial attitude and a self-started, with a good sense of humour will go far in this business
